Dementia Care Cotswolds

Dementia Doulas Ltd understands your anxieties at this time. We work with you to find exactly the type of care you are comfortable with. Because our Doulas do not have multiple clients you can rest easily knowing that we will keep transmission possibilities to a minimum. If you wish we have masks with Perspex windows, gloves, aprons and can even bring changes of clothes with us. If you prefer a more relaxed approach we can work with you to achieve this through detailed risk assessments.

We help you and your loved ones live your best lives and constantly monitor governmental and local guidelines. We aim to keep our clients at home for as long as possible if that is your wish.

About Us

Our company was founded in September 2018 by Mary Merheim who after completing her training as a carer, realised there was a gap in the care and support that was being offered to people with Dementia. So, she decided to provide a unique, family-centred service, and the idea of ‘sharing the caring’ took off. Since then, Dementia Doulas Ltd have helped many families across the Cotswolds find a balance between having a personal life and caring for their loved one. We work throughout Cheltenham, Tetbury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Malmesbury, Stroud and Nailsworth.

The Role of a Doula

The role of a Doula can be defined as a trained companion who supports an individual through a significant health experience. It is not intended as a medical role, as our Doulas are employed to offer comfort and companionship to our clients while their families take a break.

Dementia Care at Home

Dementia care at home is the preferred choice for many families as it allows them to spend more time with their loved one in a familiar and relaxing environment. At home, we can provide:

  • Transport to support groups, appointments and days out.
  • Help with daily tasks like eating and drinking.
  • Reading newspapers and books.
  • Stimulation through exercise and activities.
  • Encourage engagement through music, photographs and belongings.
  • Help with the household chores.
  • 24 hour support.
